The municipality consists of the Våland, Eiganes, Kampen and Stokka. Part of Stavanger's city center is located in the Eiganes and Våland districts. Stavanger Cathedral, Byparken, Breiavatnet and Kongsgård upper secondary school are within the borough boundaries.

The municipality of Eiganes and Våland had 24,635 inhabitants on 1 January 2021.

"My neighborhood": a tool for participatory democracy

In the municipality's participation work, we use the platform Decidim, a tool for participatory democracy that allows citizens to track the content of a decision-making process and influence it. The goal of Decidim is to make it easier for residents to participate in discussions, and it should be easier to track down and influence decision-making processes in the development of the cities and local community one lives and resides in. Increased use of electronic tools in democratic processes (e democracy) can help to:

• create greater confidence in the administration and democracy through open and more transparent political and administrative processes, where the citizens themselves choose how they want to participate.
• lower the threshold for participating in democratic processes.
• revitalize the form of government that democracy provides
